(Source: Eric Wolff North County Times, Escondido, Calif.) – Foreclosed-house and short sales dragged down values of traditional houses in December, Santa Ana-based data firm CoreLogic said Thursday.
In Riverside and San Bernardino counties, non-distressed house prices fell 4.2 percent in December 2011, compared with 12 months earlier. Overall house prices, including sales of foreclosed properties and sales in which borrowers sold for less than they owed, fell 5.9 percent.
In San Diego County, non-distressed properties sold for 2.7 percent less in December than they had in December 2011. Overall, houses sold for 7.9 percent less over the same period.
Home prices in both regions fell more than prices nationally. Between December 2010 and December 2011, home prices fell 4.7 percent, but excluding distressed properties, home prices fell 0.9 percent.
